Andrea Renae is a bi-coastal sexuality educator and consultant who has been teaching about health and wellness through a sex positive lens since 2007. Her diverse work experience includes jobs both in the public health sphere: specifically in reproductive health and STI screening/prevention centers, as well as consent-based, pleasure-focused, education-driven retail, including nationally recognized adult shops Passional Boutique and The Pleasure Chest. Andrea recognizes the importance of patient-provider communication around sexual health, and to this end she works on both sides to increase knowledge and skills to facilitate patient-centered, affirming dialogue. She has spoken to medical students and other future healthcare professionals about sexual health and pleasure at various Universities around the U.S., including: Temple University, Jefferson University, and California State University at Northridge. She is also a small group facilitator for the American Medical Students Association’s Sexual Health Scholars program. Through workshops and one-on-one coaching, Andrea teaches patients how to self-advocate and initiate conversations about sex with their healthcare providers.
Andrea holds a bachelor’s degree in Public Health and is currently earning her Master’s degree in Human Sexuality Education through Widener University with research focused on the intersection of alternative sexuality and the healthcare system. Her work has been featured in both local and national publications including The Philadelphia City Paper, Kinkly.com, and Xbiz.com.
